Writing

By the time we have reached midlife, we all have so many personal experiences to share plus an awful lot of wisdom. One wonderfulJackieH_edited_1.jpg woman with masses of experience in publishing and the media, Lindsey Dawson, the founding editor of Next magazine, was the catalyst for the first of our stories below. Lindsey generously offered a day at one of her seminars entitiled 'The Story of my Life'.  The winner, Jackie Halliday shares some of the results of her day in the link below in a series of short stories.

For more information on Lindsey lindsey07_1.jpgDawson's  seminars, see ww.storyofmylife.co.nz. Lindsey explains: "It’s all too common for many older women to feel a little invisible in a world that worships youth and beauty. This is a day for stepping into a deeper kind of beauty. In tribal societies older women are honoured for their wisdom. You can own that identity too."

Poetry

Writing Sometimes it is easier for the more talented amongst us to express themselves through prose.  We therefore invite members to send their poems to us for publishing on the site for the benefit and enjoyment of others.  If you have penned verse you would like show here,  click here to send the information via email. (you will need to be logged it)

judith_for_profile.jpgRead on for some wonderful examples of poetry.  The first three were penned by Judith St John Ives who has quietly being practising her craft for decades.  Judith penned these poems at a time of her life when she was changing her focus from Mother of four daughters and busy business owner to a more self-fulfilling lifestyle.  One that resurrected her creative nature

In addition we have a submission by a first time authoress from Sydney who decided to share her first poem which developed slowly as she recovered from a transition in midlife that was thrust upon her - very moving.
