At Birgit Photography, www.birgitphotography.com, we believe that when it comes to creating amazing photographs it is ALL about the detail. We control and manipulate many things, including light, shadows, angles, colours, shapes and sharpness of focus when we are crafting images that convey the look and feel our clients have requested.
Our images on this page showcase how we used detail to create the perfect shot for a client. We include tips about how to get close to your subject and create more interesting photos.

Tip of the month – How to take Macro photos
Getting close to your subject matter can often result in interesting photos and reveal tiny details not obvious from further away. If you are not aware of “Macro”, getting close will result in an image that is out of focus.
Normal photo settings can not focus on objects closer than approx.40 cm. To get closer :
Look for the Macro setting, a lot of times symbolized with a flower on the camera wheel of functions or in the set-up menu
• Select how much you want to zoom in
• This will also start blurring the background and the item stands out more
• A tripod can be of good help when shooting little items
• SLR cameras have some lenses which can be switched at the lens to Macro function
• Don’t forget to switch the function back to normal after finishing your photo session!
