My Experience With Genetic Brain Dominance Profiling - Learning to Love Who You Are

compiled by Rae

brain_profile.jpgMy experience with Brain Profiling happened rather by chance. Sitting in a very lively networking session with a group of entrepreneurial women, a few shared that they had undergone a service offered by one of the members, Noeline Levinson, and that the resultant profile had helped them tremendously in making life choices. Choices involving careers and relationships, and it had seriously assisted with their acceptance of themselves. In short, they understood how  their genetic 'hard wiring' had predisposed them to enjoying certain activities while absolutely loathing and feeling trapped by others.

This particular style of brain profiling was unlike anything I had experienced before.  No questionnaires or yes/no answers.  Simply, using a kinesthetic method, my body responded to taps and questions and having no idea of the outcome I simply followed prompts.  The practitioner, Noeline Levinson, detailed to me her wealth of experience in this and many other techniques, which she studied in her native South Africa.

Noeline explains Genetic Brain Dominance Profiling:  "This is a very valuable tool to establish how a person thinks, what their strengths and weaknesses are and most of all, what happens to them under stress. What makes it unique is that we do not use questionnaires to gain the information. I have been doing profiling for a number of years now. The most potent way to understand profiling is to experience it.

I think the most powerful benefit from this profiling is, once you have a better understanding of what happens to you under stress, and how you tick, you can start to love who you are. And most importantly follow your intuition that usually is trying to get through the endless mind chatter. So many people report to me that they felt wrong doing a certain job, but got there by default. Or that they were very unhappy about doing a certain job and they thought there was something wrong with them. For me personally, this was the most miraculous insight I have experienced. It was able to explain exactly why I had been unable to accomplish things my parents could easily accomplish and why I had talents elsewhere. It was so liberating understanding and respecting who I was."

All very well I thought but like most people, I was motivated by what it would do for me so after a session of taps and Noeline filling in a form or rather a diagram that looked like a flattened frog and making various marks on it, all was revealed.

Not only am I a leftie when it comes to writing (sinistra - that Italians call it), but I am left brain, left eye, left eared, left hand, and left leg dominant. Which boiled down to meaning after an hour of explanation that this website is the absolutely perfect career I could have possibly dreamt up for myself. For someone who Noeline said is a perfectionist, a brain filer, loves to give advice, needs closure and thrives on affirmations while seeing the big picture and potential in people and situations, there are certainly a lot of things I am not good at. One is working for someone else and another is that I respond very badly to harsh tones (don't like being told off that means). I already knew that one but the hardest thing to come to terms with was that I always thought I had a lot of right brain features, which indeed I do, however, they do not function when I am stressed out, so it was fortunate I did not pursue a career in art.  Too entrepreneurial and too fond of structure.

While I didn't fully agree with all of the profile findings, my husband did immediately and anyone I have mentioned a few points to has nodded knowingly.

Overall, I found the explanation of my 'hard-wiring' very settling, and it has totally explained why I have chosen many of the paths in life that I have taken and found others such hard work.

I truly believe it is an incredibly worthwhile experience for a couple to undergo to help understand each other.  And that's the next step.  I am about to book my husband in with me listening of course.
