5 Ways to Give your Hair more Body

5 Ways to Give Your Hair More Body

Add volume to fine, flat, or thinning hair with these smart styling tips

Hair volume

Full, gorgeous hair styles with lots of body makes you look younger and more polished. We narrowed down the best new products and most effective hair care tips to lift your mane. Use each tip as it individually fits your routine or try them all together to really pump up the volume!

1. In the shower
Use a volumizing shampoo and conditioner. These contain lightweight polymers – agents that cling to hair and plump strands. Try a 2-in-1 version like Pantene Fine Hair Solutions Flat to Volume 2-in-1 Shampoo + Conditioner  to limit product buildup, which can weigh hair down.

2. Before you dry
Spritz on a volumizing styler. Spray it onto damp roots (where fullness starts) and then distribute evenly by combing through to your ends. Your hairdresser will recommend the best one for you.  I have just started using Kevin Murphy Body Building Volumising Mousse which was recommended by my hairdresser.  It is expensive but is in a can the same size as a large hairspray and will last me 9 - 12 months.

3. While you dry
Blow-dry with a big, round brush. Lift hair at the roots and wrap 1-to 2-inch sections around a brush; aim the dryer nozzle upward. Your local pharmacy will stock a good range of quality hairbrushes.

4. After you dry
Lock in lift with rollers. Wrap 1-to 2-inch pieces of hair at your crown around a few self-adhering Velcro rollers. Heat with your blow-dryer for 1 minute, then let cool, which helps hold the shape. Gently unroll and shake out with your fingers (brushing flattens).

5. To finish
Apply a fine layer of hairspray for hold. Mist into the air and walk into it rather than apply directly, to cut down on product buildup and help maintain bounce. Try Garnier Fructis Style Volumizing Anti-Humidity Hairspray

Do you have thin hair?  What style suits you best?

My hair is very fine and I have the best hair cut I have ever had at the moment! My hairdresser persuaded me to go real short and it is great, actually looks like I have heaps of hair! Best thing I ever did.

I have very fine hair, the bain of my life but although I am 68 I am wearing it longer at the moment which gives me the option of putting it up if it starts to look scraggy. Short hair just sticks to the head and does not work for me. I do use quite a bit of product and I good one for me after styling is Wella "Create Character".
