Fibromyalgia
I have recently been diagnosed with fibromyalgia/chronic fatigue syndrome after 6 months of illness. Consequently I have had to give up my career and concentrate on improving my health.
Being forced to give up on a professional career that you have actively had for 31 years is devastating, let alone coming to terms with the fact that you have developed a chronic illness. So I am at a cross-road as my health slowly improves and I am contemplating where to from here? I am curious to know if anyone else has suffers/ed from fibromyalgia/chronic fatigue syndrome and how have they coped?

fibromyalgia
Hi Sue - I know a few people living with this condition which has been treated with varying degrees of success. One lady in particular went from a very debilitated state to starting a new business. If you give me permission by emailing your address to info@wisanow.co.nz, I will ask her to contact you. I have already emailed her to ask her to read your post so hopefully she will respond.

Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue
Hi Sue, I am the lady who Raewyn is speaking about, and there are 3 generations in my family with F/M and C/F, myself, my mother and my son James. We have all been so lucky to have found something that has taken away the pain for us, and given us our lives back after years and years.
I had given away my carrer, Mum was actually bedridden for 8 years, and James life just stopeed when he got this at only 10 years old.We fought the pain and fatigue all day and all night, and doctors just couldnt help us.
Now I have been back teaching, and have 2 new businesses. James is a fit 18 year old boy, who can play sport again, and Mum travelled alone back to the UK in 2009, by herself for 3 months!
Please feel free to email me, and if you would like to speak to me, I will certainlybe happy talk to you. My email address is:

Fibromyalgia
Gosh, I had no idea about this condition until I read the newsletter. Good timing because for about two weeks now I have been in agony and exhausted. No painkillers helped and the pain stared from the top of my feet manily one foot and spread up my legs to lower back. Agony going up and downstairs and the pain seems to move around. I know my bones are good because of recent checkups etc. This pain feels muscular and the exhaustion just lingers. I have never before had this problem and am wondering (perhaps stupidly) whether there's something in the air causing the problem. I am at present living in Lorne Street looking after my daughter's apartment while she is completing a Doctorate of Laws. I would rally appreciate any ideas and feed back you may have. Thank you all and i am so pleased to have found Wisanow.

Fibromyalgia
Hi i have been a fibromyalgia sufferer for over 15 years now, diagnosed two years after the birth of my second child.
Unfortunately it has changed my life, and not for the better, i have yet to find anything that helps, i would be most interested to know what Deb found that helped her.
It is a difficult condition to live with at the best of times, and of course invisible to others,so empathy is not forthcoming.
It is called the irritable syndrome, because it causes so much more than just aches and pains, i also now have arthritis in my hip and fingers.,which of course makes things just that much more unbearable.
There does seem to be a genetic disposition to this illness,my mother had it, and it seems my sister has too, and i worry about my teenage daughter, as when she was little she used to complain about how sore here legs were after walking to school and after school dances she always had to take the next day off school.
If only there were a cure, it would be great, but it is not likely.
I have not returned to the workforce due to this illness,as i find just coping with everyday life, the housework, taking care of family and pets more than enough to cope with.
I wish i had more positive things to post, but honestly there just are not any, the older i get the worse it seems to be.
