"Style is as much about knowing what doesn't work for you as what does”. A quote from Mathew Williamson which I think is very true.

Knowing what to wear and how to wear it is a challenge, and a pleasure, at any age. But, as we get older and our bodies, skin and lives change it becomes much more difficult.. Some women just give up as they feel they are out of the running, and they can experience a loss of belief in their own judgement on how they look. This can lead to taking advice from young shop assistants, daughters, and hair and makeup stylists at random....... often a mistake as these people just haven't been there! I am certainly not saying do not use any of these people as you must, I think, always make use of the most cutting edge people in the hair and makeup industries. They are the people I have the privilege to work with on big shows or shoots and they are inspiring and clever but, always drive it yourself from the perspective of your age and life. My daughter and I wear a lot of the same clothes from my range, share a passion for vintage jewellery etc. We just do it differently!”

Fashion can be a bit daunting..... how to get it right.... take advise from someone whose style you admire and whose opinion you trust. Dressing yourself is an art and can be a lot of fun and it should be....avoid the pitfalls of buying clothes just because they fit or they are someone’s idea of youthful, lots of frills and bits usually.

There is nothing more arresting or actually sexy than an older woman who is not making excuses for herself or her age, who is confident and has taken the time to make that statement to the world!!! It does usually involve some time and money spent on finding the right hair style for you now and the different use of makeup, ie less is much better, but so worth it.
