The Elusive Capsule Wardrobe

I have never been able to stick to the nine or so pieces that constitute a successful capsule wardrobe but every time I look at the list from the many authorities writing on the subject, I can always tick the boxes for the essentials.  Then the gorgeous pieces that catch my eye fill up what should have been a lean, mean serviceable wardrobe space.  I can't help it when I see a very beautiful fabric or a glowingly coloured jacked, or even the most amazing heels.  Not necessary for anything other than my soul experience.  I realise that clothing is my 'thing' and knowing that I keep indulging.  Pity for my chequebook but conversely, it is a bit like every male I know who is obsessed with the TV show 'Top Gear'. We, as females are hardwired into clothing the way men are into glossy machinery that gives them a sense of elation just to see the sleek curves, we like the glitz of fashion, style and beauty.

- A fitted white shirt
- A chic black, knee-length pencil skirt
- A light-weight, belted mac or trenchcoat
- A medium-sized leather handbag & a simple clutch bag for evening dos
- A flattering pair of jeans in a style that makes you look great
- A comfortable, fitted cardigan
- A beautiful pair of court shoes with a leg lengthening, sturdy heel
- A timeless, unfussy pair of sunglasses
- And last but not least…you guessed it, a wonderful little black dress.

To the above list I would have to add-
- A fitted jacket to wear with trousers, dress or skirt and even jeans
- Dress pants
- An any Occasion Top - Find something you look great in that can look respectable under a jacket but bring on the fun after hours.
