Join us in Paris September 2012We are on a mission to demystify Parisian ChicRae![]() Ines de la Fressange A few months ago, I was lucky enough to be given a copy of a book that I had been waiting for for some time. Reviewed in depth in many online magazines and talked about endlessly in the fashion mags, this book was amazingly slow getting to NZ. It is of course the one that we have written about endlessly on the website. Parisian Chic: A Style Guide by Ines de la Fressange with Sophie Gachet . In short the book has totally inspired me to go to Paris and check out all the haunts Ines describes. A review of the book says: Celebrity model Inès de la Fressange shares the well-kept secrets of how Parisian women maintain effortless glamour and a timeless allure. Inès de la Fressange—France’s icon of chic—shares her personal tips for living with style and charm, gleaned from decades in the fashion industry. She offers specific pointers on how to dress like a Parisian, including how to mix affordable basics with high-fashion touches, and how to accessorize. Her step-by-step do’s and don’ts are accompanied by fashion photography, and the book is personalized with her charming drawings. Inès also shares how to bring Parisian chic into your home, and how to insert your signature style into any space—even the office. The ultrachic volume is wrapped with a three-quarter-height removable jacket and features offset aquarelle paper and a ribbon page marker. Complete with her favorite addresses for finding the ultimate fashion and decorating items, this is a must-have for any woman who wants to add a touch of Paris to her own style. ![]() Ines at a book signing How is that for a magnet from someone who started as a runway model, became the face of Chanel, and launched a clothing line; she is the essence of Parisian style and elegance. Her drawings have regularly appeared in Elle. She is creative consultant for Roger Vivier shoes and is designing the interior of a new Parisian hotel. How about putting a ring around September the 16th to spend it in Paris armed with the book and sharing experiences at a nightly catchup with like minded women. We are planning on spending around 5 days exploring Ines' Paris. The idea is not to actually take a planned tour there but booking in the same hotel (one of Ines' picks) and having a glass of champagne nightly to find out where the following day's foray should take place. Just a very loose plan at the moment although I (Rae) have already booked and Geraldine and lovely friend Joan are planning to also arrive independently. There are so many great deals for flights at the moment for the new year and we all want to do different things afterwards. I have checked with the House of Travel, Parnell (Linda) and they say it is cheaper to go independently as the deals are not the same for group bookings. What a great 2012 goal don't you think?
