Breakthough to Health & Why Pink Lipstick is ALWAYS right as you ageHow Not to Look Old: Fast and Effortless Ways by Carla Krupp Buy here for $NZ32.97 ![]() Why Pink Lipstick is ALWAYS right as you age and Ten things you can do in the next ten minutes to take off ten years As well as the 'pink lipstick revelation' this book is 'about making the ultimate 'to-do' list of SMALL beauty and fashion changes that pay off BIG TIME. Charla Krupp, the style expert on the Today Show, known for her accessible, real women's approach to looking fabulous, offers brutally frank and foolproof advice on how not to look old.' so says the publicity. But first to the details of why pink lipstick. Charla says in her book, nothing ages you like “dark lipstick, lipstick bleeding into fine lines, cracked lips, thin lips, obvious lip liner, overly matte lipstick, or obviously fake plumped lips.” So why pink? The right shade can compensate for the loss of glow in our complexions. Dark lips emphasize dark circles under the eyes, and the darker the color, the thinner your lips will look. It’s just like wearing dark clothing—dark slims, lighter emphasizes. (You know, black makes your rear look smaller, and white makes it look plumper) So follow the same principle when selecting your lipstick, and your lips will look fuller and sexier. Makeup artist Nick Barose says this in the book to convince you to purge your lipstick collection of all the dark colours. * Mauve makes you look older and sad * Nudes can make you look washed out * Orange veers into the clownish * Purples make you look like you’re suffering from hypothermia. Convinced? So which shade of pink for you? Charla writes, "If the pink is too dark, it will blend into your lip color and you won’t look like you even have any on. If it is too light, you will look too pale. As you try the buffet of pinks. you'll see that a pink one one or two shades lighter than your natural lip color shines just the right spotlight.”The advice given in the book is to find one of those really talented makeup women at one of the department stores, someone you can bond with (obviously age plays a big part here), and start your research. And, another thing, in your quest for the perfect pink texture counts Charla advises. "Look for lipsticks that are creamy. Long-lasting may be too drying. Stay away from stains, and don't go for matte or opaque either. They will not reflect light so your lips will look dull and dry." Do select a lipstick that is velvety with a hint of sheen say Susan and Nick Barose, who also says” Opaque lipstick is about as youthful as opaque nude pantyhose!” Ten things you can do in 10 minutes to take off ten yearsNow that you have the lip colour thing right here is the Top Ten list: (have fun)
