Anti-aging Superfoods List

pomegranate_1.jpegAntioxidant foods promote natural anti-aging and anti-inflammatory reactions. Here's a list of some of the best:

Natural Anti-aging Foods from Dr. Oz:

1) Pumpkin Seeds (Pepitas): rich in magnesium that helps lower blood pressure and reduces risk for heart attacks or stroke.

2) Eggs: contain iron, biotin and B12 which strengthen hair. Iron combats anemia which is often an undiagnosed cause of hair loss in women.

3) Pomegranate: pomegranate seeds contain ellagic acid and punic alagin which fight damage from free radicals and preserve skin collagen. The phytonutrients promote healthy skin. Dr. Howard Murad says his research shows it can boost the body's natural sun protection too.

4) Oatmeal: add this to your superfoods list, it contains soluble fiber which reduces LDL, or "bad" cholesterol.

5) Black Currants: promotes healthy vision and contain compound anthocyanosides, which may be helpful for night vision. Rich in vitamin C , 5 times the amount in oranges, making them a powerful immunity booster.

Natural Antioxidant Foods from Dr. Howard Murad:

1) Green Tea: packed with antioxidants which strengthen cells and may help minimize sun damage.

2) Decaf coffee: java beans are a source of antioxidants but caffeine can disrupt sleep leading to dryness.

3) Celery sticks: stay hydrated by eating water in raw veggies and get the added benefit of vitamins.

Hi Shirley - I have been through many years of looking for sugar around the 4pm slot. The only thing that changed me was the addition of protein to both my breakfast and lunch. I think it is all to do with a drop in blood sugar levels in the absence of slow release energy rather than the quick fix of sugar. How about trying protein at those two meals and see if that helps. Also, if you have protein before eating sugar your body won't do the quick absorption thing where your energy spikes then drops. I really believe sugar is a drug. The more you eat it the more you crave it. Hope that helps.

I have a very sweet tooth and try as much as I can to not have chocolate and lollies but after 2 to 3 weeks I find I also give in and buy a bag which I then eat all at once and yes I do feel very bad afterwards. Would any of the above food help me with this. Hoping someone can help me with this.
Many thanks
Shirley

Great article and list of healthy anti-aging foods and nutrients – thanks for that timely reminder. The fruits, oils, nuts, berries and seeds (including Chia) are excellent to support good health as you age. Not too sure about De Caf coffee - the process of decaffeination can sometimes undo the goodness in the coffee itself. Some recent studies show caffeine raises the oxygen and contributes to mental alertness even with those suffering Alzheimer’s. So I won’t be giving that up just yet! Others include Grape Seed Extract and Papaya - both very rich in polyphenols which are antioxidants and promote healthy aging and have strong cancer fighting and healing properties, which is why we included them in our AM supplements. Google them and see lots of good research studies. Moderate exercise and a good diet always improve your well being. Knowing the nasties to avoid too will help with mental clarity as well – even soaps, cleansers and cosmetics can seriously impact good health and aging. OK..back to my chocolate bar – moderation is key of course! Just hope I can resist the ongoing temptation!
