Sybil Says....

Having sybil_full.JPGseen a once not too bad body start deteriorating in my late 50’s and having to keep going up in sizes at the shops, and watching Gok and Suzanne & Trinney on TV, I decided that I didn’t need to have lost my vigour for life or sensuality just because I was hitting 60. The Company I worked for was partly sponsoring the Buller Marathon and there was a chance to run in the relay which was 10Km. Not being one to miss out on a fun weekend and having missed out the previous year I decided to set a goal and started pounding the streets. (Not that this is what you need to do) but it was the catalyst in starting to get back into shape. I now walk and ride a bike and the occasional run. Gradually I was able to throw away all those baggy clothes that covered a multitude of sins and start getting back into more fitting outfits and even showing a bit of cleavage and feeling great about it.

I learnt how to rejuvenate my wardrobe with some new jewellery and accessories. The comments I was receiving from everyone really spurred me on and made me realise there must be a multitude of women out there who would have similar stories but not had the courage to tackle it, so maybe because I had had some success I could share this with some of them and make them proud to be a sexy woman again.

Recently,I ran the Auckland ½ Marathon for the first and might I say last time, but realised the importance of setting goals in life and having something to strive for.

I feel it an absolute privilege to be able to encourage and help other woman achieve some new goals in their lives after the age of 50. I feel these are going to be the best years of my life and I’m passionate about making that happen for others.

While I was reasonably trim, I had a tummy that I did not like. Because of a health problem I did some research through a well known and trused website and found a site called "Great Taste No Pain" This has a lot of interesting information. While I had a very healthy diet, with very little processed food, little wine, lots of fruit and veges, I was eating the wrong foods together. This was causing irritation in my tummy (lots of burps), this caused inflamation and inflamation holds water - hence the big tummy. I followed what was recommended and after five months lost 9 kg, the burping has stopped and I have a lot more energy and a flat tummy. I now feel sexy in my jeans.

I also was keeping fit but nothing would shift the tummy until I looked at how I was combining the foods that I was eating. This site is worth having a look at.

So glad you found the joy of events. I'm 57 and I've also put on a couple of kilos due, I am sure, to aging as my lifestyle hasnt changed much. Ive walked half marathons for years and stayed the same body weight, but due to the weight gain and beginnings of sagging skin, recently joined a womens gym for some upper body work to complement the lower leg workouts. Hopefully in a couple of months I will see some results to meet my goal, but the big bonus is feeling better, and a new joy of mixing with other like-mind mature women who are not giving up the fight to look and feel the best they can be.
