Conscious, and grateful - flowing with good energy!I remembered a moment that gave me the opportunity to notice how quickly the time has gone by. It happened when I saw a friends children after years. Ten years earlier , she had immigrated and suddenly there in front of my very eyes, ten years disappeared. Instead of snivelling, missing teeth, nags, there they stood as young adults in their late teens. Wow! Blew me away. Innocently my friend asked how things were and then the crucial question that knocked me off my path. What’s be happening since we were together? I stuttered, stammered smiled and said ‘Not much… I can see the kids have grown…’ I giggled, felt awkward and switched to safe subjects. Suddenly I needed to account for my time, I wondered what had happened in the last ten years, what was as significant for me? I needed to take stock. I rushed home, sat down with a paper, pen and always tea and started my trip down memory lane. Armed with my daily dose of omega three and some tissues I set to work. This was not easy I was determined that the changes were going to be significant life changing ones, as ‘Wow’ as seeing those kids. Their growth was somehow an indicator or a sign that I should have grown too. The only growth that kept coming to mind was my mid section and that was not the growth I was thinking about! Initially the list was looking thin, well at least something was. As I started to write the list started to flow, slowly at first and then it kept coming, little by little I noticed both the big and small changes both Gavin and I had made in our lives, the achievements and celebrations, some sadness and huge joy, an immigration and a successful business sale! Moving well adjusted teens across the world, no small accomplishment and starting anew. These were just some of a long, long list. I realised that when she asked me what had been happening in the last ten years I could think of very little to say (this does not happen to me very often, I can assure you!) . My mouth dried up, my mind went blank and suddenly my life seemed so dull. I needed to acknowledge ourselves, give credit and be more conscious of our achievements. I wanted to be more awake in our life. I felt so ungrateful after I wrote the list simply because there is so much in the last ten years to be grateful for. So much change, so much growth and unless we stop to notice, days turn into weeks, weeks into months and months into years. We often hear ourselves say ‘Wow that year flew by,’ and we don‘t take stock until we bump someone we haven‘t seen for years or until it‘s to late to notice.
